⥤ Overview

A 6,700 sqft single storey building refurbishment on a manufacturing campus for a global engineering business, this link block connects the engineering design, canteen and production facilities and provides a hub for locker rooms, showers, wellness and the occupational health suite.

⥤ Brief

The original building envelope required updating to meet the corporate challenges of a stringent net zero policy as well as compliance with recently updated building regulations for power conservation. The specification of the mechanical and electrical services focussed on significant reductions in operational carbon, which was facilitated by significant improvements to the energy performance of the building envelope.

⥤ Challenges

The build was completed with the site operational and with due regard to existing services infrastructure and UPS facilities that needed to be maintained for the manufacturing site. Weaving the design of the new toilets and showers into the existing below ground drainage design was certainly challenging.
