⥤ Brief
To re-plan the entire ground floor level of the house in order to explore the optimum use of space including the new planned extension, considering the potential for relocating certain key functions. The overall remit was to create spaces for: a family room, snug, kids’ chill-out space, dining area, WC and utility space, a kitchen and a garden room. At the same time, a certain flexibility was required to alter the settings if needed for entertaining guests or changing circumstances.
⥤ Challenges
To ensure the extension had minimal impact on neighbouring properties and to seek the best balance of natural light with solar gain by reducing glare, as well as ensuring good acoustic separation throughout.
